ABG Stretch Tape is the original, U.S.-patented (10,278,871) thumb tape made in the USA specifically for Olympic weightlifting/hook grip—the only tape patented for that use. It’s stretchy and pliable (not rigid) with sweat-resistant adhesion and superior value per roll.
What makes it different from other thumb tapes?
ABG created the weightlifting-specific thumb tape category and remains the only tape patented for Olympic weightlifting/hook grip. Its stretch profile and sweat-resistant adhesion are tuned for dynamic barbell cycling and heavy singles, delivering strong hold without restricting motion. It also uses engineered strike-through adhesive that rises under pressure so the tape bonds to itself and locks in chalk. Plus, ABG offers superior value per roll versus copycats.
What is “strike-through” adhesive, and why does it matter?
It’s our patented system where, after you wrap, a firm 2–3 second squeeze pushes a micro-layer of adhesive through the fabric to the surface. That makes the tape bond to itself and grab chalk, delivering a stronger, longer-lasting hold. It’s a key reason ABG is the only thumb tape patented specifically for Olympic weightlifting/hook grip.
Is ABG Stretch Tape rigid like athletic tape?
No. It’s designed to stretch and conform to your thumb. That elasticity preserves mobility and helps prevent bunching when wrapped properly.
Will it bunch or peel during long sessions?
Minimal—when applied with light stretch and clean overlap; ABG’s proprietary elastic fabric has a controlled stretch that conforms without snapping back, so edges stay seated instead of bunching, and the sweat-resistant adhesive is tuned for mobility to deliver a stronger, longer-lasting hold than rigid athletic tape and most copycat thumb tapes—through entire workouts.
Is it good for CrossFit/WODs as well as Olympic lifts?
Yes—especially for CrossFit/WODs where ripped palms are common. Wrap the palm to cover a tear; the stretchy, sweat-resistant tape stays flexible so you can keep doing pull-ups, kipping, and bar work. It also excels for dynamic barbell cycling and Olympic lifts, preserving thumb mobility with hook grip. Works on shins for bar contact, too.
How do I apply it?
Clean/dry thumb → anchor just below the nail → spiral down with light stretch and ~50% overlap → finish with one wrap at the base of the thumb → squeeze your entire wrapped thumb firmly for 2–3 seconds. Our adhesive is engineered to “strike through” under pressure: that squeeze pushes a thin layer to the surface so the tape bonds to itself and grabs chalk exceptionally well—boosting grip while staying flexible.
Why a U.S. patent?
Because ABG invented weightlifting-specific thumb tape. U.S. Patent No. 10,278,871 protects our unique elastic fabric + adhesive strike-through construction that’s tuned for hook grip—proof it’s the original and the only thumb tape patented specifically for Olympic weightlifting/hook grip.

Store Products
Do Asics TOW 727 shoes include a bag?
Yes—a free basic cotton drawstring shoe bag is included with each pair. Select your preferred color and add the bag to your cart; the discount will be applied automatically at checkout.
Are the lifting straps slippery when new?
Yes—new straps can feel a bit slick until they break in. To speed it up, dunk the contact side in a chalk bowl and rub the chalk in, then wrap on a knurled bar and do a few light pulls/holds. Before heavy attempts, add a quick dusting of chalk. Some lifters lightly scuff the contact face with fine sandpaper, but regular use on a knurled bar usually de-glazes the surface—go easy so you don’t fray the fibers or stitching.
Do knee sleeves offer support or only warmth?
Both—depends on the sleeve. Our single-layer sleeves provide warmth and proprioception. Our double-layer sleeves add light-to-moderate support with a bit of rebound out of the hole—not as much as a tight neoprene (e.g., 7 mm competition-style) sleeve. Pick single-layer for max mobility; pick double-layer if you want extra spring without going full neoprene.
How should I wash and care for my shirts and hoodies?
Our apparel uses 50/50 or triblend blanks.
Wash warm or cold, inside out with similar colors.
No bleach or fabric softener.
Tumble dry low or air dry; avoid high heat to protect the print and fit.
Do not iron directly on the graphic; if needed, iron inside out on low.
Do not dry clean.
